Pure, citrus driven Sauvignon with subtle, riper tones of pear and white peach reflecting the warm and dry growing season. The palate bursts with fresh grapefruit and meyer lemons with juicy flavours and generous concentration and refreshing acidity.

Appearance: Pale straw.

Nose: Pure and bright perfume with aromatics of grapefruit and white peach. Subtle smoke and gravelly tones layered over this create a complexity beyond the immediate fruit profile.

Taste: Juicy, plush, white fleshed fruit pour across the palate with a refreshing and defined acidity balancing the sunny fruit profile, finishing clean and dry.

Food Pairings: The wine would sit comfortably alongside a dozen oysters shared with or without social distancing.

Winemaking: Hand picked and whole bunch pressing of fruit prior to cold settling then fermentation. 60% of this wine is fermented using indigenous yeasts. The wine is aged for 4 months in stainless steel tanks then bottled without fining.

Soil: Silty-clay loams, some parcels with gravels interspersed.

95 points - Bob Campbell, NZ, Sept 2023
Bright, fresh wine with typical varietal/regional characters including capsicum, gooseberry, lemongrass and passionfruit. Appealing purity with a perfect sweet/sour balance. A pleasure to taste.

95 points - Shanteh Wale, Wine Pilot, Australia, Nov 2023
If you’d like to taste Sauvignon Blanc in its modern-day glory, look no further. The Marlborough sunshine and pinpoint precision in the vineyard and winery is all found here. The abundance of fruit continues on the palate with an electric line of acidity and sea spray finish. The dryness of the wine takes elegance to another dimension. Purity and drive, this is a triumph of a vintage.

94 points - Maryann Worobiec, July 23, USA
Lush and expressive, with plenty of concentration to the mix of mango, lemon curd and litsea oil flavors. Details of dried pineapple, candied ginger and crystalized orange zest add complexity and aromatics on the long finish.

19/20 - Joelle Thomson, NZ, Dec 2023

One of the best Sauvignon Blancs made in New Zealand each year with its distinctive complex aromas, medium body and great purity of citrus flavours. A juicy succulent mid palate gives this wine weight, depth and great length of flavour. This wine has more weight, depth, and length than most Sauvignon Blancs and over delivers, big time.

5 Stars - Michael Cooper, NZ, Dec 2023
The thought-provoking 2023 vintage is arguably the best yet. Pale lemon/green, it is full-bodied and vigorous, with penetrating, ripe, passionfruit/lime flavours, showing a distinct ouch of complexity, and a dry, long finish. Still unfolding, it should break into full stride mid-2024+.

93 points - Rebecca Gibb, Vinous UK Apr 2024
Under that flintiness you find concentrated, pure fruit flavors. It’s light in body but dense in concentration thanks to low yields, displaying both focus and punch. It’s almost silvery in color and restrained thanks to hand picking, leading to pure grapefruit and passionfruit flavors alongside a hint of nectarine. The finish is long, precise and sinewy.

About the Producer: The name Dog Point dates back to the earliest European settlement of Marlborough and the introduction of sheep to the district. These were the days where, due to a lack of fences, boundary riders used boundary keeping dogs to protect the local flocks of sheep. Shepherd’s dogs sometimes became lost or wandered off, eventually breeding to form a marauding pack that attacked the same flocks they were meant to be protecting. Over time the settlers were able to remove these wild dogs and the area was named Dog Point. There is now a friendly “pack of dogs” that greet guests at the vineyard.
